HOLTWHITES BOWLS CLUB - NEWS
The weather on Sunday done its best to disrupt our end of season finale match, but we are made of sterner stuff!
With all players arriving for a 2pm start, the rain began to fall and the outlook was pretty grim with a forecast of showers an early tea was taken!
With the rain easing (and perhaps the thought that a quiz was the next option!) it was decided to at least make a start and attempt to play 12 ends. Teams were hastily rearranged which enabled us to play 5 rinks of triples.
Happily the gods smiled on us, the weather held and as usual the game was played with great good humour and a little banter!
The outcome, well, the lady captain came up with a cunning plan to contrive a victory based on other sports whereby the worst score is discounted. The men believing they had won on shots had victory snatched away (by this new plan) and although it was not hotly disputed the ladies perhaps deserved their victory having won by 3 rinks to 1 (discounting the score on rink 6!)
WELL DONE LADIES
Another lovely club afternoon, cakes eaten, alcohol consumed, tea and soft drinks, plenty of talking and reminiscing plus not forgetting some bowls played!
