HOLTWHITES BOWLS CLUB - NEWS
On a lovely late summers day at Bounds Green on Saturday we attempted to repeat our performance from 2019 and retain the Middlesex League Trophy.
The draw for the mornings semi finals paired West Ealing against Ladygate and in a repeat of last years final Holtwhites were drawn against Poplar.
The results at this stage are based on shots not on rinks won. In a tense and extremely close fought encounter with Holtwhites winning on 2 rinks to 1, the cumulative score across all 3 rinks was tied at 62 shots each. The outcome of the match was then decided by a 1 end play off on each rink, Holtwhites progressed to the final winning on all 3 rinks. Phew!!
Despite winning only 1 rink West Ealing won their semi final by virtue of a greater shot difference.
So onto the final in the afternoon, unfortunately although we again won by 2 rinks to 1, overall West Ealing run out winners by 8 shots (63-55) and having won only 2 of the 6 rinks they played during the day!
No disgrace in losing but just a sense what might have been but still a great team effort by all those involved on the day.
