HOLTWHITES BOWLS CLUB - NEWS

Last Sunday saw the finale to our season with the annual Ladies v Gents match for the much coveted 'Patsy Walker Trophy'. The prospect of play looked doubtful following the rain throughout Saturday and Sunday morning, but come the afternoon the clouds parted and it turned into a lovely sunny (if a little chilly) afternoon. With the men going for a hat trick of wins the captain changed the format on some rinks with leads going to skip and vice versa, in hindsight was this a wise move!!!!! Whatever, 'lady power' ruled supreme on the afternoon and they deservedly won the match both on shots and rinks. For the record the ladies won by 3 rinks to 1 with 1 tied and by 71 shots to 60. Another statistic for the record books, this was Eddie Dennison' hat trick of defeats in consecutive years as losing skip!! As usual the match was played in a tremendous friendly fashion with a little banter! and I think everyone would agree it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Special thanks to Gill & Andy for organising our post match fish and chip supper where we could congratulate or commiserate with each other over a tipple of what ever you fancied and reflect over what has been another fabulous season for the club, the hospitality, camaraderie are second to none.

For those going to bowls indoors hope you have a great season and those who hibernate winter well and we look forward to seeing you all in April 2019.
