HOLTWHITES BOWLS CLUB - NEWS
After all the fine weather this season the playoff for the Middlesex League title at Bounds Green yesterday was contested in rather inclement weather! Cold and almost constant rain.
In the draw for the mornings semi final Holwhites were paired against Ladygate and Poplar against Paddington.
In a tense and dramatic last few ends Ladygate reduced Holtwhites overall shots advantage and the match ended all square, Holtwhites securing a place in the final having won by 2 rinks to 1, phew!!! Poplar
The afternoons final was no less a tense affair against Poplar. Holwhites having established a sizeable shots advantage and winning positions on all rinks at the midway stage were pegged back by a Poplar fightback to a 3 shot lead. Fortunately the final few ends saw Holtwhites halt Poplar's end winning run and establishing a victory by 11 shots and 2 rinks to 1.
Great team effort on the day from those playing - Alan W, Andy H, Tommy L, Ted E, John H, John S, Ken P, Rod S, Terry G, Tony L, Ian T and Geoff B and thanks also go to the 2 travelling reserves Peter Brown and John Churcher.
