Firstly a huge vote of thanks to Andy Hatvani for organising and running (as usual) a most enjoyable day, the winner taking home the Captain's Carafe and a bottle of wine.
The morning session consisted of teams of 5 playing with 3 woods, basically the player furthest from the jack on each end loses a life (or in our case a wood!) and the nearest casts the jack. The last players left in each team going through to the final after lunch. By some quirk of fate 2 married couples found there way through, Maureen & Tommy Lawford, Linda & Terry (are you still in it! - more of that later) Guilder and Hannah Hollis.
The final very quickly saw TG to his last wood (the other 4 finalists still had 3 lives). Having survived a number of ends TG cast the jack past full length which was not placed on the 2 metre mark and promptly put his wood in the ditch (you lose a wood) but after a friendly stewards enquiry was reinstated! Hence he swiftly acquired the the nickname of 'are you still in it'. with all the opposition seen off Hannah & Terry were left with a 1 wood shoot out, justice was done with Hannah winning the competition.
